چکیده

In this overview paper, we introduce an application of stochastic orders in wireless communications. In particular, we show how to use stochastic orders to investigate the ergodic capacity results for fast fading Gaussian memoryless multiuser channels when only the statistics of the channel state information are known at the transmitters (CSIT). In general, the characterization of the capacity region of multiuser channels with only statistical CSIT is open. To attain our goal, in this work we resort to classifying the random channels through their probability distributions by which we can obtain the capacity results. To be more precise, we derive sufficient conditions to attain some information theoretic channel orders such as degraded and very strong interference by exploiting the usual stochastic order and exploiting the same marginal property. After that, we apply the developed scheme to Gaussian interference channels and Gaussian broadcast channels. We also extend the framework to channels with multiple antennas. Possible scenarios for channel enhancement under statistical CSIT are also discussed. Several practical examples such as Rayleigh fading and Nakagami-m fading, etc., illustrate the application of the derived results.

On Stochastic Orders and Fast Fading Multiuser Channels with Statistical CSIT

In this paper, we investigate the ergodic capacity of fast fading Gaussian multiuser channels when only the statistics of the channel state are known at the transmitter. In general, the characterization of capacity regions of multiuser channels with only statistical channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) is open. Instead of directly matching achievable rate regions and the correspo...

Capacity Analysis of Single-User and Multi-User MIMO with Split MLSE Adaptive Equalization

It is well known that the employment of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver increases the overall system capacity. This paper presents an overview of capacity variation in single-user and multiuser multiple-inputmultiple-output (MIMO) systems in Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading channels under the assumption that channel state information (CSI) is known...

Spatial T-H Precoding for Packet Data Systems with Scheduling

This paper combines spatial Tomlinson-Harashima (TH) precoding with packet scheduling at the transmitter to improve the system-level performance of packet data systems. Under the assumptions of instantaneous and perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter and independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) user channels with flat fading, the spatially equalized and decoupled mul...

Short Range Wireless Channel Prediction Using Local Information

Wireless channels change due to the mobility of users, which coupled with system delays, causes outdated channel state information (CSI) to be used for transmitter optimization techniques such as adaptive modulation. Channel prediction allows the system to adapt modulation methods to an estimated future CSI. The primary contribution of this paper is a low complexity channel prediction method us...

SNR Maximization at CSI Aware AF Relay

This paper concerns two-hop communication over relay-assisted Block fading channel. It is assumed there is not a direct link between the transmitter and the affiliated destination and the communication occurs in two hops through the use of a relay, where the amplify and forward (AF) strategy is employed at this node. In this case, in a Rayleigh block fading channel, the optimal weight function ...
